Dr. Tara L. Benninger, PhD

Dr. Benninger is a licensed clinical psychologist, practicing in Worthignton, Ohio, specializing in the assessment and diagnosis of neurodevelopmental conditions.
She has worked with individuals with neurodevelopmental differences and disabilities for over 10 years and is passionate about providing individualized and evidenced based care for individuals and their families across the lifespan.
Dr. Benninger received her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, through the Intellectual and Developmental Disability psychology program. She completed both her pre- and post-doctoral training at Nationwide Children's Hospital and continued her work as a staff psychologist and former Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics and Psychology at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Benninger has extensive experience in assessment of neurodevelopmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, intellectual disability, and specific learning disabilities. She has also had the privilege of working in several specialty settings and clinics including inpatient behavioral health units, neonatal intensive care unit, Williams Syndrome clinic, and with young children with traumatic brain injuries.
Dr. Benninger has multiple academic publications which focus on challenging behaviors in toddlers, neurodevelopmental impairment in children with brain injuries, language development in Williams Syndrome and measures of crisis and parent stress. Dr. Tara has presented at national and regional conferences throughout the U.S. as well as given numerous professional development seminars for educators and mental health professionals. She is passionate about working with community partners to increase knowledge and understanding for children and adults with neurodevelopmental differences.
